Just really dug them a lot. Trupa Trupa. A band that is at once very experimental but also deeply commited to the kind of noise that gets you out of your seat.
Trupa Trupa’s music mixes elements of so many things I love – bits of psychedelia, krautrock, repetition, noise, melody, and beauty. It can be haunting, harsh, disturbing, meditative – sometimes all in the same track.
Great modern psychedelic rock is alive and well and living its best life in Poland. And leading the present charge of innovative talent from Eastern Europe is Trupa Trupa, who will be releasing their excellent, excellent new album, Of The Sun, on September 13th via Lovitt Records – a taste of which you can check out on their BandCamp page.
The soundtrack and visual to your existential crises is streaming here now. Gdansk’s Trupa Trupa continue to stake their claim as one of the most essential bands of 2019 with their new single ‚Longing’.
The Polish protest-psychedelic group Trupa Trupa tease their (excellent) forthcoming Of The Sun album with the spacey, shimmering Longing.
See you in the United States, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Poland! More dates to be announced soon!
Here is our debut in Clash Magazine!
Trupa Trupa produce mysterious, multi-faceted music that’s open to interpretation. But it’s also direct and passionate. It’s no surprise that band member and poet Grzegorz Kwiatkowski is the same.
Grzegorz Kwiatkowski of Trupa Trupa made a startling discovery in 2015. In a pine forest, nuzzled next to the former Stutthof concentration camp in Poland, was a cache of buried shoes.
Antisemitism, fascism, retrogressivity are again most relevant today. Before the release of their new album »Of the Sun« by Trupa Trupa and the attached tour with stop in the US, here an interview with singer and poet Grzegorz Kwiatkowski about Poland, the Shoah, and art in general.
It’s not often a band comes along and grabs you so completely you anticipate each release with relish. Having stumbled on Gdansk based Trupa Trupa at Sharpe Festival last month they have properly sited themselves right under my skin. Their combination of far-out psyche/post-punk/avant-garde has got me in its grip and it won’t let go. They have been blazing a trail worldwide with deals in the US (Lovitt), Europe (Glitterbeat), Poland (Antena Krzyku) and Japan (Moorworks).
Anti-fascist psych rockers from Poland Trupa Trupa have released a video for a song pointing the finger at those whitewashing history. Holocaust denial is perhaps one of the big themes here and the music is very powerful. One of the best bands around at the moment, don’t sleep on these.

Oh my good God, I have seen the light! How have Trupa Trupa evaded me for so long? They played here last year becoming a bit of a LTW favourite when John covered them.
Grzegorz Kwiatkowski is lead singer with Polish post-punk band Trupa Trupa, an outfit I saw for the first time in Bratislava last week. Yesterday, his documentary on ‘The Invisible Shoes of Stutthof Concentration Camp’ was broadcast on radio CBC. Trupa Trupa sits squarely in the dark poetic visions of Joy Division and Ist Ist – if you haven’t heard them then check them out on Spotify and Youtube. Their performance at Sharpe Festival last week was a true highlight.

Many artists come from abroad to take advantage of the unique opportunity SXSW offers, including Polish psychedelic rock group, Trupa Trupa. Trupa Trupa attempts to combine many disparate musical styles and genres, based on each members’ preference and style. The group’s lead vocalist, Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, claims that this blending of styles is part of what makes the band unique.
During these last four days we played two gigs which found their way to Rolling Stone, NPR, Chicago Tribune, Sound Opinions, Gigwise and Tucson Weekly best acts list of this years edition!
