Tell us about your beginnings and the beginning of the band. Did you already know each other?

The band started in 2009. We played our first concert at Yach Film Festival in Gdańsk. We had to play it. We decided and we did it. But we weren’t ready yet. We knew each other very little. Just few months or even weeks. But the effect of that meeting and that concert was our first EP from 2010. We don’t regret it.

How do you work as a group? Who writes the lyrics and how do you develop the songs?

We try to work in a democratic way. Everyone has something important to do. Everyone has got an influence on everything and has equal right. The lyrics are mine or Wojtek’s but the point is: they aren’t him or mine. We as a band poses them, can opinion and change them. Like one body. Of course this body is very often sick and disabled. But we try to make it in an idealistic way.

Your music is quite dark. What are your songs about?

I call it: circus-esque way of looking into the phenomena of evil. Most songs are about very bad ethic stuff. Most of them but not all of them. Some of them are just normal songs with normal lyrics.

How was the recording of your last album ++? I know you wanted to make the sound especial in this album, you even created some of the material in a Synagogue.

The album was recorded between Nov 2012 and Feb 2013. Most of the material was created in the New Synagogue in Gdansk Wrzeszcz with guest appearances of Mikolaj Trzaska and Tomasz Zietek. We then moved to S4, the analog studio at Radio Gdansk where we recorded vocals. We also used the acoustic qualities of an abandoned marine machinery plant, our ex rehearsal place, to add the natural reverb to the recorded material. And finally the album was mixed at Radio Gdansk and mastered by Piotr Pawlak at his studio.

Where does the name of the album come from?

You can read it as plus plus or in graphic way as two crosses.

In your album we can find psychedelic influence keyboards, like in „I Hate” to more garage rhythms as in „Miracle” What are your influences?

Our style is a meeting point somewhere between inspirations and influences of individual band’s members, ranging from 60’s psychedelia through folk, to cold wave, garage and noise. For example our keyboard player is influenced by John Frusciante and folk stuff. And our bass player is influenced by Sonic Youth and Fugazi. Actually, since a few months ago, I’m sharing this influence with him.

Your are from Poland, exactly from the port city of Gdansk, How is the music scene over there? Can you recommend as a band?

The scene is varied. We have every kind and sort of music. And of course there are a lot of good bands and musicians. I can truly recommend Stefan Wesołowski and his newest album Liebestod (especiallysong called „ostinato”).

Contadnos cuándo y cómo se formó la banda y si ya os conocíais entre vosotros?

La banda empezó en el 2009. Nuestro primer concierto fue en el Yach Film Festival en Gdansk. Por aquel tiempo no estábamos preparados aún para tocar, ya que no nos conocíamos muy bien entre nosotros, solo desde hacía unos meses. Pero teníamos que tocar y lo hicimos. No nos arrepentimos de ello, porque de este concierto surgió nuestro primer EP en el 2010.

Cómo funcionáis como grupo? Quién escribe las letras y cómo desarrolláis los temas?

Intentamos trabajar de una forma democrática, el trabajo de cada uno en la banda es importante y todas las influencias y opiniones son tratadas por igual. Wojciech y yo nos encargamos de las letras, pero éstas no nos pertenecen solo a nosotros, sino que pertenecen al grupo, de tal forma que cada miembro puede opinar sobre ellas o cambiarlas. Funcionamos como si fuéramos un cuerpo, por supuesto que muchas veces este ¨cuerpo¨ está enfermo o discapacitado, pero intentamos hacerlo de la mejor manera posible.

Vuestra música es bastante oscura, De qué tratan las letras de las canciones?

Yo le llamo: Una forma circense de mirar el fenómeno del mal. La mayoría de las canciones, pero no todas, tratan sobre temas poco éticos, el resto de canciones tienen una temática en las letras más ¨normal¨ por decirlo de alguna manera.

Cómo ha sido la grabación de vuestro disco ++? Sé que habéis cuidado mucho el sonido e incluso parte del material fue creado en una Sinagoga.

El álbum fue grabado entre finales del 2012 y principios del 2013. La mayoría del material de la grabación fue creado en New Synagogue en Gdansk Wrzeszcz, con la participación de algunos músicos invitados como Mikolaj Trzaska y Tomasz Zietek. Después grabamos las voces en el estudio analógico S4 en Radio Gdansk y también utilizamos las cualidades acústicas de una sala de maquinas abandonada de la marina para conseguir grabar algunas reverbs naturales para el disco. Y finalmente el álbum fue mezclado en Radio Gdansk y masterizado por Piotr Pawlak en su estudio.

De dónde viene el nombre de vuestro último álbum?

El nombre del álbum tiene una doble simbología, se puede interpretar como dos veces ¨más¨ o como dos cruces.

En vuestro disco podemos escuchar desde teclados con influencias psicodélicas como en el tema ¨I Hate¨ hasta ritmos más garage como en ¨Miracle¨. Cuáles han sido vuestra influencias?

Nuestro estilo es un punto de encuentro en algún lugar entre la inspiración e influencias de cada uno de los miembros de la banda. Desde la psicodelía de los años 60´s hasta el folk, cold wave, garaje o noise. Por ejemplo, nuestro teclista tiene muchas influencias de John Frusciante o del folk y nuestro bajista más de Sonic Youth y Fugazi, de hecho,  desde hace algunos meses estas bandas son parte de mis influencias también.

Vosotros sois de Polonia, exactamente de la ciudad portuaria de Gdansk, ¿Cómo es la escena musical allí? Nos podéis recomendar algún grupo?

La escena es variada, hay de diferentes clases y estilos. Y por supuesto un montón de bandas y músicos. Yo personalmente os recomiendo a Stefan Wesolowski y su nuevo álbum Liebestod, especialmente la canción ¨Ostinato¨.
